Maharishi Bhrigu

Maharishi Bhrigu was one of the (Seven Great Sages) Saptarishi of Vedic Period . He is one of many Prajapati of (creation of God) Brahma. Maharishi Bhrigu  is one of the manas-putra of Brahma . He is also the author of Bhrigu Samhita  . He was the first compiler of predictive astrology , and also the author of Samhita , the astrological (Joytish) classic which was written in Vedic Period . Sage Bhrigu was compatriot of during the period of Manu , who was ancestor of humanity . Maharishi Bhrigu’s Ashram (Hermitage) on Vadhusar River which is the tributary of Drishadwati river which is near to Dhosi Hill in the Vedic state of Brahmavarta , presently on the border of Haryana and Rajasthan in India. Maharishi Bhrigu along with Manu had made important contributions to manusmriti , which was constituted out of a sermon to a congregation of saints in the state of Brahmvarta , after the great floods in this area , nearly  10,000 years ago . As per holy scripture Skanda Purana , Bhrigu migrated to Bhrugukuchh Bharuch on the banks of Narmada river in Gujarat, leaving his son chayavana at Dhosi Hill.

Mahrishi Bhrigu

                                                 Maharishi Brigu was married to mankind to khyati who is the daughter of Daksh , they had two sons by her named Dhata and Vidhata . Maharishi Bhrigu daughter Lakshmi married to Lord Vishnu .

He had one more son , who is better known than Bhrigu himself – Shukra , who is better learned to guru of asuras The sage chayavana is also said to be his son .[from Maha: 1.5].

Scriptures

Rishi Bhrigu finds mention in Shiva Purana and Vayu Purana , where he is shown , Present during the great Yajna of Daksh Prajapati (his father-in-law) He supports the continuation of the Yajna of Daksh even after being warned that without an offering for Lord Shiva , it was asking for catastrophe for everyone present there.

In the Bhagavad  Gita Lord Krishna says that sage Bhrigu is the representative of the God.

Bhrigu Samhita

Maharishi Bhrigu is credited as the father of Hindu astrology and first astrological treaties Bhrigu Samhita – this was a map how human beings will be , till the end of the solar system . He was talking about how human beings , he was talking about humanity – how it will evolve , what will do, the kind of human beings who will come and depending on the many combinations and permutations , what situation will come towards them.

In his treaties there is over 5 million horoscopes , in which he wrote down the fate of every being in the universe .

Maharishi Bhrigu was the first compiler of predictive astrology , Jyotisha . He compiled about 500,000 horoscopes and recorded the life details and events of various Persons . These database are formed further research and study . And this study reached and study . And this study concluded in the birth of  the science (Shastra) of determining the quality of time (Hora) and is Brihat Parasara  Hora Shastra . These Horoscope were based upon the planetary positions of the Sun, Moon, mercury , Venus , Mars , Jupiter , Saturn , Rahu, (North Node of the moon) and Ketu (South Node of the Moon). After that , Maharishi Bhrigu gave his predictions on different types of horoscope compiled by him with the help of Lord Ganesha in a brief and concise manner .The total permutation/possible horoscope charts that can be drawn with this is about 45 million . Through it is said that these horoscope have been recorded for all humanity who were have and will be born till eternity .

The test of Trimurti

Many sages gathered at the bank of river Sarswati to participate in the Maha Yagya organized at that time .Maharishi Bhrigu was also present there . All the great saint and sages could not decided that greatrdha saint and sages could not decided that out of the Trinity Lord Vishnu ,Brahma and Shiva who is pre-eminent and whom should they offer Prdhanta (Master ) of that Yagya . After all the discussion everyone decided that Maharishi Bhrigu is one who decided who will be pre-eminent on this Maha-Yagya . At that time Maharishi Bhrigu was filled full of arrogancy and ahankara due to his extreme austerities .Maharishi Bhrigu decided he will take test all the trimurti . He being ignored Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva , he visited Lord Vishnu , Vishnu was asleep and Bhrigu kicked him in the chest to wake  him up . Vishnu similingly welcomed , that make Bhrigu extreme pain and he realised his mistake and his ahankara that has gone end . After realisation he begged for forgiveness and Lord Vishnu forgave him.
